Birthday girl goes to Madeira Canyon.

About two hours from Bisbee is Madeira Canyon, a lovely place with spectacular terrain and a lot of great wildlife.

We have discovered a route there which takes you through pretty much nowhere, with the exception of Tombstone, which is just this side of ...

 Box Canyon Road
 Shrike

 The head of Madiera Canyon

 Incredibly clear and cold.
 Bathing Jay
 She was really close
 Acorn woodpecker

En route we saw 3 roadrunners, though either they or we were going too fast to get a photo thereof.

This particular route goes through box canyon, a 15 mile stretch of one lane dirt road hacked out of the side of a steep canyon (though only about 5 miles are really rugged.  In the past Shelley has screamed at the lack of guard rails and the  ever present potential of gravity becoming a force to be reckoned with, but by now she is something of an old hand.

She did stop me from filming while driving though probably a good thing as it is a road that kinda calls for both hands on the wheel.

We saw hummingbirds (Anna's) up close, Acorn woodpeckers, a favorite, Bridled titmice, Mexican Jays bathing, deer up close, dark eyed juncos and much more...

It was another very good day, our gratitude knows no bounds.
