Up.

"Gravity? We can overcome gravity," I said,  "Let's take a hike to the top."

Well it's not quite that easy.  There is a trail, we could see some of it on google maps, but there were a lot of other trails created by people like us trying to find the trail and ending up, not lost, but in nearly impassible terrain.

First, the stairs by our house.

Then quickly, the edge of town

There was a mark on a rock which I assumed (yeah I know) was a trail marker.  Getting closer it turned into modern day pictographs. and while fuming another couple appeared on a trail above me, fairly close, but because of loose rock and thorns, not directly attainable.  They were confused and not finding the trail to the top either.

They wandered one way, I scrambled back to Shelley and Harley and we eventually found the trail which went up.  Total elevation gain was about 700 feet, plenty.

 The trail marker, not.
 Not at all.
At times we were as high as the  Hawks

 Which Shelley watched

The north facing slope still has some some snow.  Fortunately this part was short and not too steep.

The canyon behind town

The view made it worth it.

Mexico at the horizon or before
