Another day, another canyon.
But first Javelina
Then on to Fay Canyon
This one is an easy hike, at least as far as we went today. It gets tricky up towards the head, but the was not necessary today. I've developed a fondness, an appreciation for trees and bushes which grow in seemingly impossible hostile surroundings. The trees back home don't know how good they have it.
There are layers in the sandstone where the rock is less permeable I think and this channels such water as there to these levels and so youcan see lines of green.
Some of the seeds had to come via bird poop.

More walking on the local trails.
With the Sedona Marathon happening we did not venture far - and went back to the local trailhead to continue on the nearby trails.
moon while taking Harley for his morning walk.
The jays are glad we (and our peanuts) are back
There are a couple of loops and a trail that goes across the edge of Sedona to many other trails.
It's all good.

Groundhog day!
Certainly saw his shadow here, but it's not exactly winter here, so ....
First, the dog park, and what an amazing dog park, with world class views. Then after lunch a short hike on a local trail that stretched our legs and gave us some confidence.
Those of you back home in the cold, we will try to send some of this your way...
After lunch a hike at the base of chimney rock.

Day 3 - to Sedona. Made it. No photos today, camera not unpacked yet
But there is one from Bisbee posted yesterday that needs some explanation.
The hills around the town are riddled with abandoned mines, some small, some larger. This one large enough for living in. We met the man some years ago - probably posted in another blog somewhere.
It's fifty something inside year round, so he had a freezersuit and was most happy not to be spending booze money on rent. I went by and the fence he had was down, the place seemed deserted. with any luck he got sober and has quite a story to tell.
